Pursuing Recovery with Legal Support

So Excited to share that Pursuit of Recovery has added a very valuable component to our services.

“Legal Support” is very near and dear to my heart.  I am so very grateful for the education to promote this service,

More importantly, I have the Life Experience.

Substance Abuse will take us to a bottom. That bottom unfortunately can be jail, prison, an Institution, or unfortunate death.

Yes, change can and will be scary, we are here to help in every way possible so the outcome is NOT deadly.

Whether you are the one facing pending charges; the family of a loved one who is facing pending charges; or the legal professional who has taken on a client; Pursuit of Recovery’s Legal Support is here to help with the recovery process.

Assistance with Experience:

When addiction and alcoholism bring families and individuals face to face with legal troubles, I will be there to work in providing a solution for all. The drug or the drink are just symptoms of underlying and unresolved issues that need to be appropriately addressed. Whether it be childhood or adult trauma; coping skills reset; or undiagnosed mental health that led to self medication, Pursuit of Recovery is here to help navigate the journey for ALL involved while utilizing appropriate professionals.

Recently obtaining an undergraduate in Criminal Justice and completing over 300 hours of Criminal Justice Addiction Counseling we are able to commit in navigating active addiction and alcoholism towards successful long term recovery.

Goal Seeking:

When working with families or individuals the #1 goal of Professional Legal Counsel is to ensure the best possible outcome. When addiction/alcoholism are present, MY #1 goal is to screen, assess and address what led to why they have become a client needing Legal Counsel in the 1st place. What does your Legal Support provide? When the attorney, family, or client engages our services, it is a process. Addiction has been compared to a “contact sport”. Everyone participates and our services are committed to have the “Team” aka “The Family” as healthy as possible.

The process for the potential client

Pursuit of Recovery will work one on one with client, family, and the court to provide the following:

  • Initial Clinical Screening: After we determine through an initial screening if we can work together, I will schedule a detailed assessment as soon as possible. If the client is incarcerated, I will reach out to the facility to schedule a visit.

  • Detailed Assessment: When I have the detailed assessment, I will make a professional recommendation for treatment. That may be inpatient or outpatient. This will be based on multiple factors and not limited to client need for detox, dual diagnosis, health insurance and funding.

  • Treatment Admission and Follow Up: Once a client has started treatment, I will work with the treatment program to provide ongoing reports for the court system. (Updates as directed by courts and drug/alcohol random screening.)

  • Aftercare for up to 2 years: After the client has completed the Professional Recommended Treatment Plan, We will set up supervised random drug/alcohol screening for the length of time requested by courts. We will also adjust the treatment plan as needed with the growth of the client.

The Process for the Family:

  • Gather the “Team Players” (Family, friends and colleagues (if needed) and assess personal roles in the client’s life. Be open minded to making changes in your current relationship with the client.

  • Make a commitment to working with Pursuit of Recovery weekly for a minimum of 6 weeks. That may be face to face; or telehealth video.

  • Be teachable and most important, willing to change behaviors that instinctively may have enabled your loved one.

Legal Support Specialist - Recently, lawyers dealing with criminal drug cases or drug courts have been requesting this type of Support Specialist to ensure a client, stays sober as per the law’s mandate.

A Legal Support Specialist with the required certification and legal knowledge are contracted for this purpose. A Specialist licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor with training in assessments can perform these tasks.

The courts request them to perform a client assessment. Legal Support Specialist will then draft a letter to the court and offer suggested placement in a residential alcohol/drug treatment center, an outpatient treatment program and/or a sober living facility. A Legal Support Specialist can also appear in court with the client and provide transportation to or from the courthouse.
